CORE SERVICES

1. Mediation

As mediators, we help people understand the roots of their conflicts, so that they can create joint solutions. We show parties how to consider common and individual values, options and needs. Mediation works in situations involving two or more parties at odds over public bid projects, commercial contracts, insurance coverage, employment, environmental or organizational issues - just to name a few. Increasingly, business as well as government at all levels are opting for mediation as the forum of choice to avoid costly and lengthy litigation. With the aid of an impartial, experienced and well-trained mediator, parties are able to construct a fair and workable solution and thus preserve resources, relationships and goodwill.

2. Training & Education

We provide training and education services so that the majority if not all of the conflict and dispute problems which you face can be handled by members of your own staff. Combining experiential learning with sound theory allows seminar and workshop participants to understand how to prevent conflicts from arising and to better manage them when they do. Our training, educational seminars and workshops are practical and focused. They are designed to empower your managers and team members. Trainees can apply the skills learned immediately and confidently.

3. Fact-Finding/Investigations

Tri-State provides confidential, independent neutral investigations of problems and incidents for objective decision-making by parties to a conflict. Among other areas, we have significant experience investigating sexual harassment complaints in the workplace.

4. Dispute Review Board (DRB) Service

Complex multi-party economic development and public infrastructure projects require extraordinary planning, engineering and construction management execution. Tri-State's professional neutrals make for ideal appointees to DRB's in lending their impartial fact-finding and facilitative group problem-solving capabilities to project stakeholders at every stage of planning and execution. Tri-State can offer objective project conflict assessment and claims forecasting tools , in providing for "professional neutral resourcing" of the project management function.

5. Conflict Resolution Program Design

Tri-State provides policy guidance and systems development consulting to organizations seeking to establish a formal mechanism for conflict management. Once established, Tri-State professionals are available to provide third-party ombudsperson administration of such programs. Model programs are available and may be adapted to any organization to address internal and external disputes.
